History

Tribute to Susan Gubing

Susan Gubing founded the Smithtown Advisory Board in 1977. Through her guidance and leadership for the first 3 years the vision to bring education and business together was made a reality. Due to her vision, our students continue to have the opportunity for internships, jobs, networking, and career information which allows them to adapt and be more competitive for all their post High School experiences.

Over 38 years of Partnerships with Smithtown, Long Island & NY City

Since its inception 38 years ago, the Smithtown Industry Advisory Board has marked each year with a specific theme or organizational goal that reflected the issue(s) of the time. Each of the 10-12 IAB committees work on their own projects that connect industry, education, & the community to our students, as well as maintaining programs that supported the theme or goal of the year.  From The School of Business committee that organizes real-life “Apprentice” styled business competitions(Business Olympics)  to our Career Tracks committee that brings awareness of the need for more highly trained female workers in this ever changing economy(Female Power Brunch), the Industry Advisory Board’s diversity in its programs is its greatest strength.
